No More Shakes

Well, as you have probably noticed, there hasn't been much action with Shake-It over the past 2 months. Supposedly, the transformation from tadpole to frog should take about 2 weeks. Well, last week, when Aunt Gina came to visit, we celebrated Shake-It's 2 month birthday (after all, he and Aunt Gina are birthday buddies)...and, well, he's still a tadpole. We have fed him everyday, changed his water weekly, had birthday parties for him, and even sang him a Good Morning song when we remembered. This morning I noticed that Shake-It was acting kind of lethargic. No tail wiggling, no nose dives. So I called the tadpole experts down in Florida. They had a few recommendations: Change his water even more often. Move him to a warmer part of the house, etc. David was very upset that Shake-It was sick and might be dying. There were tears. And lots of questions about what an angel tadpole might look like and be capable of. David was concerned that even if we were to get a new tadpole that he would not be a "violin-loving" tadpole like Shake-It. David said that he thought Shake-It wanted to watch TV with him. So, reluctantly, I put Shake-It down on the floor with David. I then went to the garage to find my purse that I had left behind in the car. When I returned, David noticed that Shake-It's "tank" had spilled and there was Shake-It just lying still on the carpet, along with all of his water. David was devastated. Miraculously, we managed to save Shake-It's life, but he is holding on by just a thread. Say a little tadpole prayer for Shake-It. And for David as he experiences his first pet loss... You heard it here first: Shake-It isn't long for this world.... :(

Getting A Frog

Our adventures with our frog started a few weeks ago, at Kidtopia, our local toy store. David saved up his money to buy a Grow A Frog kit. Here's how it works:
1) You buy a frog kit.
2) You send a postcard in the mail to the frog company in Florida.
3) You get tadpole in the mail when the weather conditions are just right.

Well, we just got our tadpole in the mail today! We are so excited!
